As managers, leaders, educators, coaches, partners, parents, friends we are continuously learning and developing.  Brightspace is founded on a belief in the power of coaching and lifelong learning. I love working with people who are hungry to learn and am passionate about developing coaching skills.

I help organisations to develop coaching capabilities and coaching cultures. I train managers to utilise coaching techniques to improve performance and lead their teams. I also train teachers to use coaching skills in the classroom to enhance the facilitation of students’ learning. Coaching is a practice; The best way to learn it is to do it! I take an experiential, workshop-based approach with a high proportion of practice and reflection founded in robust understanding of psychological theory.

Every course is bespoke but will cover topics such as;

  • What coaching is; differences from mentoring, training, teaching
  • How does coaching practice fit in to your work?
  • Foundation skills of coaching
  • Applying Coaching skills in the work place

I offer one-off, half day or one day events for more experienced practitioners and emerging coaches. Always bespoke, interactive and practical, these are designed to deepen expertise in  a specific area of coaching. Examples of recent topics have included; High impact coaching tools for effective 1-1’s; moving coachees beyond their blocks and limiting beliefs; mindfulness and reflective practice in coaching.

I believe strongly that as coaches we must walk the talk – just as we help our coaches to develop, so we must continue to grow and learn, question, reflect and develop ourselves.

We all need space to think.

I like to think of Supervision as a place for coaches to think. Supervision can challenge, stretch and energise you as a coach. It’s a place to explore coaching dilemmas, get perspective, reflect on practice, celebrate success and continue to develop your skills. I offer both 1-1 and supervision groups for independent coaches and within organisations. I also host a small networking group for coaches in my Thinking Space in Durham City. Please get in touch to find out more.
